A federal jury in Manhattan has ordered the government to pay more than $1 billion for illegally imported drugs that were marketed as treating erectile dysfunction. The judge is scheduled to make the decision on Thursday.
The jury ordered Amazon Inc. and Pfizer Inc. of conspiring to sell Viagra for $8.5 billion and Lipitor for $1.2 billion, according to court documents. They are both facing civil and criminal fines.
The drugs were distributed in China, Brazil and other countries.
